Hi, I’m Ashley!

I’m a software engineer based in Minneapolis.

About

I currently work remotely as a Senior Software Engineer at Fastly, and I’ve previously worked as a Site Reliability Engineer at MariaDB Corporation and General Mills. I graduated from Iowa State in 2013 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. Though I’m very interested in cloud, infrastructure, and automation, my current ambition is to refine my software development skills. My favorite language to code in right now is Go, and I tend to favor backend development in general.

Presentations

I’ve presented at a number of conferences, meetups, and user groups in my career and enjoy sharing whatever knowledge I can.

Giving Power to the People with Ansible at General Mills

Side Projects

I have a passion for decentralized social media and chat services, and I enjoy spending my time setting up servers that participate in larger decentralized networks. I currently run a Diaspora server as well as a Matrix server.

I have contributed code and configuration needed to run the microservice version of Dendrite, a Go implementation of Matrix Synapse

I contributed a feature to Ansible AWX supporting custom python virtual environments when running Ansible playbooks in a containerized AWX instance

I enjoy customizing the firmware on my mechanical keyboards

My first personal Go project was a multiplayer Scrabble server. It kind of hurts to look at the code now :)
